Ethical Issues in AI

Course Description

This course uses an analytical framework to address today’s pressing ethical issues in AI. It begins with the basics of AI technology, to get beyond the hype and understand why it is not magic. After providing some tools for ethical analysis, it applies these tools to such issues as privacy and surveillance, self-driving cars, generative AI (ChatGPT etc.), AI and intellectual property, group fairness, social media and online content moderation, job displacement, and robots as autonomous agents. A theme of the course is that ethical dilemmas can be analyzed objectively in AI and in life generally.
